Model Colors and Formats
The model colors and separate model format settings govern extra query metadata in a specific Discover report. The metadata can be used to drive data visualizations.
Note: Model color and formats are only applicable to Microsoft Multidimensional and Tabular cubes and model.
Using Model Colors and Formats
Model Colors
The model color switch returns the foreground and background colors set for each data point in a result set. The colors are designed into calculated measures and calculated members either on the server or from Pyramid. When enabled, the colors are used to color the data points within each visualization.
Note: This setting only has an effect if foreground and background colors have been designed into calculated measures and members.
The measure has logic to show values in 3 foreground colors. Without the model colors enabled, everything appears in black.
With model colors, we automatically see the values with different colors:
The measure has logic to show values in 2 background colors. Without the model colors enabled, everything appears without a background color (in our example, in white):
With model colors, we automatically see the values with different colored backgrounds:
Model Formats
The model format switch returns numerical formats set for each data point in a result set. The formats are designed into measures, calculated measures, and calculated members either on the server or from Pyramid. When enabled, the data is formatted according to these settings.
Note: This setting only has an effect if extra data formatting has been designed into calculated measures and members. If standard data formats have been set for measures and calculated measures only, there is no need to use this setting.
This cube has only 1 measure, "value". When the currency dimension is applied, we see the measure broken out into USD and Euros.
Notice that both show the classic dollar sign, because the common measure is simply formatted as basic currency.
When the model formats are enabled, the Euros are changed to show the Euro symbol instead. In this scenario, the same measure is formatted differently based on the member selection from the currency dimension.
